What is Simon?
Simon is a simple but addictive memory game where you must watch and listen carefully, then repeat the pattern. Each round adds one more step. Get it wrong, and Simon lets you know!
Fun Fact: Simon's creators were inspired by the Atari arcade game 'Touch Me.', which doesn't sound dodgy or illegal at all.
History of Simon
- Invented by Ralph H. Baer and Howard J. Morrison, released in 1978 by Milton Bradley.
- Simon was a huge hit for its simple but challenging gameplay and bright, memorable design.
- Simon is considered one of the first 'must-have' electronic toys and remains popular to this day.
- Many modern versions exist, including hand-held, app, and giant Simon!
How to Play Simon - Rules
- Simon lights up a sequence of colours and plays sounds. Your job is to repeat the sequence by pressing the coloured buttons.
- Each round, the sequence gets longer by one.
- If you make a mistake, Simon ends the game with a 'raspberry' sound.
- Try to set a high score or compete with friends!
- Play solo or with up to 3 friends in 'pass it' mode.
Strategy & Tips
- Say the colours out loud as you press them for extra memory help.
- Break long sequences into chunks in your mind.
- Stay calm! Simon's speed increases, but panicking is your enemy.
